The FinnBuild ’08 building and renovation fair began in a dramatic way as Lammin windows and doors introduced a superior product that goes straight to the top of Finnish energy window offering. The introduction was carried out by a local Member of the Parliament, Mr. Timo Heinonen who stressed the fact that during the next years, the energy requirements within the building industry will be substantially tightened by the legislation.

The new Lammin window, Watti Eko, already meets the requirements that are being planned to become effective in 2010 and 2012. Thus it is no wonder that on the opening day of the FinnBuild fair, it drew plenty of crowd to the Lammin booth – both house designers and builders.

The new flagship window of the Watti product family has an E grade (the mathematic annual energy consumption per square meter in kilowatt-hours) of 42 – cutting the current A category in half. The U grade for the same window is 0,66 W/m2/K. It is safe to say that Watti Eko creates an energy efficiency benchmark of its own for the entire Finnish window industry to follow.

Thanks to its innovative structure, the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland has granted Watti Eko a protection of designs.

Tha flagship of Lammin’s Watti product family creates a whole new energy efficiency category to the very top of Finnish window market.

The Watti window models offer plenty of alternatives with the U grade less than 1,0 W/m2/K.

The E grade tells you the mathematic annual energy consumption per square meter in kilowatt-hours.

The old double-glass windows can’t rach even close to the E category. 2009 is the last year when the best category C windows are accepted in new building. In 2010 and 2011 the builders are required to use only those category B windows which are able to go below 1,0 in their U grade.

Energy category D refers to windows with the E grade between 125 and 144
Energy category C refers to windows with the E grade between 105 and 124
Energy category B refers to windows with the E grade between 85 and 104
Energy category A refers to windows with the E grade 84 or less

The new flagship window of the Watti product family will be introduced at the FinnBuild fair. It has an E grade of 42 – thus it dramatically cuts the A category in half.

Thanks to its innovative structure, the National Board of Patents and Registration of Finland has granted the new window a protection of designs. Compared to any other window that can be opened, its energy efficiency is substantially better.

The visitors can take a closer look at this innovation throughout the 4-day fair.

The new window will be introduced by Mr. Timo Heinonen, a member of the Finnish Parliament. Mr. Heinonen will also give a speech about the recent changes in construction industry and the importance of energy efficiency to environment and general well-being.

Welcome to witness the beginning of a new era in energy-efficient windows!

Venue: Hall 4, booth 4 b 37 (by the Highlights Café)
Time: Wednesday 24th September, 10.30 am

At the Lammin booth, also other Lammin category A and B windows as well as balcony and front doors will be presented.

With this, the governmet attempts to support especially the projects which aim to improve the energy efficiency of private housing as well as environmentally friendly changes of heating systems – such as replacing the traditional oil heating with pellet or ground heat systems. This almost triples the tax deduction support for domestic renovations.”

A window or door renovation project carried out at home or cabin entitles to household tax deduction. Up to 60 % of the cost of the work purchased from a company can be deducted.

Renovating or fundamentally improving own residence or holiday housing are projects which will make you eligible for the deduction. If you own another residence, renovating that is good for deduction as well.

Deductable projects also include work carried out at the residence or holiday house of the taxpayer’s or his/her spouses (even if deceased) parents, foster parents or their direct relatives or the spouses of any of the above mentioned.

In 2008 the maximum amount of household tax deduction remains at 2300 euros. This can include 1150 euros worth of the above mentioned renovation and fundamental improvement work.

The maximum deductable amount for a residence’s renovation and fundamental improvement work is 1150 euros. Thus, renovation or fundamental improvement work worth of 2083 euros can be fully deductable if the work is carried out by a company or entrepreneur who do taxable business and thus belong to preliminary tax withholding register.

60 % x 2 083 € - 100 € customer’s responsibility = 1 149,80 €

The deduction right is personal so in 2008 the spouses can deduct altogether up to 4600 euros.

In 2009 the household tax deduction right will be increased to 3000 euros per taxpayer. The entire sum can be used to renovation and fundamental improvement work. There is a special form (14 Household tax deduction) that will be filled and sent along with the general tax return form.

All receipts of the invoices must be kept carefully. Make sure that the invoice itemizes various components such as work, gear, material and such. The receipts need not be included in the deduction application, they will be asked for if needed by the tax officials.

The deduction is annual and it will be granted on the year when the invoice was paid.

By ordering a complete Lammin window and door renovation project to your home or holiday house, even for your parents or for any of the above-mentioned entity spouses can deduct altogether more than 8000 euros (2 x 1150 euros + 2 x 3000 euros) when the project is carried out during two calendar years. That creates a perfect opportunity for true everyday luxury at the turn of the year!

In front of Gerby, at the island of Gubbgrund there is a grand villa representing old Ostrobothnian building traditions. The impressive and decorative Villa Similä was built in the beginning of the 1900’s.

The house number 1 at the fair is a reconstruction of Villa Similä, built according to same specifications. The students at local polytechnic school documented the old villa and created the building plans accordingly. Based on the plans, technical students are building the house. It is a demonstration where the entire process can be seen.

According to the traditional model, a new home is built. Modern technology and conveniences go hand in hand with old style and architecture.

The Lammin Piety windows are particularly suitable for renovation sites where people want modern qualities with the style, shapes and details of old ones. Obviously, Piety is a great choice also when you are building your own villa or castle and appreciate the traditional atmosphere. Projects such as Villa Similä represent a perfect match for Piety.

The Piety window selection is available in August 2008.
